Have you ever felt when someone was staring at you? Have you been able to sense another person’s presence before you actually saw or heard that person? When you are around certain people, do you sometimes feel drained? Have you ever walked into a room and tightened up, felt angry or wanted to leave? Are there others who make you feel uplifted or happy just being around them? What you are experiencing are the energy fields around other people that are invisible or unseen by most individuals.
Invisible energies shape the way you feel, the way you think and the way you live. You can use these energies for your health and well-being. The first practitioner of energy medicine is you. We all have the power to assist in healing through a simple science of energy. The ability to heal oneself or others is considered a natural potential. Anyone who has a pure intent to help can develop this innate ability with knowledge and practice.
Dramatic shifts in medicine are happening all around us now. There is growing interest in learning more about alternative and complementary therapies. We are ultimately responsible for our own health. Previously, western medicine has looked at our physical bodies from a symptom relieving solution such as drugs or surgery. If this approach was effective, we wouldn’t be spending billions of dollars on prescriptions each year and still have the chronic diseases and illnesses that we have today. So, if we want to make changes in our lives, it is evident that we need to move in a new direction. There is an old saying, “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got”.
By using light touch, energy therapies help individuals to restore wholeness by balancing the energy field that surrounds the body. In ancient times, mystics or clairvoyants were able to perceive these emanations known as the aura. With new technology such as Kirlian photography, we are now able to capture these energy fields on film.
In an energy healing session the person is the focus and not the illness or symptoms. Trained healers are taught to identify energy imbalances. Western medicine commonly uses equipment such as lasers and x-rays to emit energy locally to a part of the body. Someone that is trained in energy medicine is able to assess imbalances and to emit energy to release this blocked energy or congestion, thus improving their health. This can be accomplished whether the person is physically with the therapist or not.
Our bodies can be compared to a river that is flowing naturally, unimpeded. But if something obstructs that flow of water such as a beaver’s dam, the water may still be able to flow, but not as efficiently. Once the congested or blocked area is released, the river is able to return to its normal state and begins flowing efficiently again. This is essentially what an energy therapist does in a session, helping your body to return to its natural state of harmony.
Our bodies are always working to get back to a healthy balanced state. A healing session begins a healing process that may continue for hours, days, weeks or even months after the session is over. The person usually experiences a sense of relaxation, an inner peace and a greater sense of well- being. Once you have started that healing process, changes will begin to take place. The changes may be subtle, but a healing has occurred whether you are aware of it or not. When your body is in a total relaxation state, it is in a better position to heal.
