The Ego or the Self

When we operate on default (mindlessness) we invite pain and suffering. The ego will do anything to insure its survival. To conquer it, there are practices we can do.

Spirituality is an internal struggle between the ego and the Self. How do we know when the ego is reacting or the Self? The ego is our identity, it is who we think we are, and anything that threatens its survival will perpetuate a corresponding reactive thought, word or action.

The Self is the non-doer, that which is undifferentiated and unaffected by outer circumstances. It is that wondrous within-ness, that blissfulness that we look for outside of ourselves for most of our lives. The secret is that it has never left us, we just need to “remember” that it is inside us.

That is why we meditate – to still the mind and allow the peace to spill over to our daily lives and activities.

Chandi Devi showed great interest in spirituality and mysticism even as a young child, a passion that would eventually lead her to immerse herself in the study and practice of tantra yoga. She co-authored “From Om to Orgasm: the Tantra Primer for Living in Bliss”, which won finalist awards in two categories in the 2008 National Best Books Awards competition.

Chandi is host of the online radio show “The KarmaCaffe Spiritual Hour” and the creator of The World of Tantra DVDs, a set of three practice videos that activate and transmute sexual energy (kundalini shakti). She has been featured in magazines, given many radio interviews and is a featured writer for several websites.

She is currently writing film and television treatments that cloak ageless wisdom under the veil of entertainment and she invites industry people to partner and manifest this vision together with her.
